  • The site of the Mt. Willard Section House along the old Maine Central Railroad, next to the Willey Brook Trestle, in Crawford Notch State Park of New Hampshire. This section house, built in 1887, housed the section foreman and crew who maintained Section 139 of the railroad. From 1903-1942, the Hattie Evans family lived in the house. It was destroyed by fire in 1972.

  • Crash site of the Maine Central Railroad Engine 505 on July 3, 1927 along the Maine Central Railroad in Crawford Notch of the New Hampshire White Mountains. Oscar W. Clemons and Robert B. Morse, who were operating locomotive 505, lost their lives during the explosion. This railroad was chartered in 1867 as the Portland & Ogdensburg Railroad then leased to the Maine Central Railroad in 1888 and later abandoned in 1983. Since 1995 the Conway Scenic Railroad, which provides passenger excursion trains,  has been using the track.

From 1874-1921 a railroad traveled through this area; the railroad was first used by the Gale River Railroad. This logging railroad was in operation from 1874-1878, and it ended at the Gale River Settlement. The Profile & Franconia Notch Railroad would then take over the line and extend it to the Profile House in Franconia Notch. In operation from 1879-1921, this passenger railroad only serviced the Profile House.

  • Artifact (possibly a railroad track frog) near the logging Camp 1 spur line along the Sawyer River Railroad (1877-1928) in Livermore, New Hampshire.  Railroad track frogs were used to guide the wheels of locomotives and log cars from one track to another. The Sawyer River Trail now follows this section of the old railroad bed.
