In 2011 high waters from Tropical Storm Irene caused most of the stone abutment to collapse (right side).

A segment of the scenic Appalachian Tail, the steep and rough Beaver Brook Trail passes by these cascades. Completed in 1937, the roughly 2,190 mile long Appalachian Trail (A.T.) begins in Georgia and ends in Maine.

This branch of the railroad began above Camp 10, crossed Franconia Brook, and then traveled around the southern end of Owls Head Mountain to Camps 11 and 12 in the Lincoln Brook Valley.
