In the 1950s, when truck logging was being used to haul timber out of Lincoln Woods, a bridge was built at this location to access the Black Mountain area. During the early years of the East Branch & Lincoln Railroad era (1893-1948), a trestle was used in this general location to access the area and logging Camp 13.
