Originally built in 1732-1733, and restored by the National Park Service in the 1980s to its 18th-century appearance, this tavern was standing on April 19, 1775 (battles of Lexington and Concord, which marked the beginning of the American Revolutionary War). And because of this the National Park Service refers to this house as a “witness house”.
