Description: The Gilman Place home site cellar hole along Sandwich Notch Road in Sandwich, New Hampshire. During the early nineteenth century, this homestead was part of a hill farm community (thirty to forty families) that lived in the Notch. By 1860 much of the community was abandoned, and by the turn of the twentieth century only one person lived in the Notch year around.
