This bridge crosses the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River at North Fork Junction in the Pemigewasset Wilderness of New Hampshire. Tropical Storm Irene caused destruction along the East coast of the United States, and the White Mountain National Forest was officially closed during the storm. Update: the bridge seen in this photograph is no longer standing, and hikers now have to ford this water crossing.
