Whitcherville, named for the Whitcher family, was an 1800s settlement that played a role in the log drives down the Wild Ammonoosuc to the Connecticut River. The main driving dam for the Wildwood logging operation (Mount Moosilauke area) was located here. The last log drive was in 1911.
