Chartered in 1867 as the Portland & Ogdensburg Railroad, it would eventually be sold to the Maine Central Railroad. Since 1995, the Conway Scenic Railroad, which provides passenger excursion trains through the notch, has been using the tracks. The cliffs of Mount Webster are in the background.
