Mount Eisenhower from along the Mt Eisenhower Trail in Sargent's Purchase in the New Hampshire White Mountains during the last days of summer; this area is part of the Southern Presidential Range. Named for President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Mount Eisenhower is straight ahead. Mount Eisenhower was originally named Mount Pleasant in July 1820 by the Weeks-Brackett party, but after President Dwight D. Eisenhower died in March 1969, the mountain was renamed Mount Eisenhower.
