Tenth New Hampshire Turnpike

(29 images)
Tenth New Hampshire Turnpike, White Mountains. Incorporated in December 1803, this turnpike began in the area of the Bartlett / Hart’s Location town line and ran for 20 miles west through Crawford Notch and ended in the area of today’s Fabyans in Bretton Woods. The road would be later called the “old Portland Road”. Today’s Route 302 follows the general route of the old road. These photo show scenes from along the old route of the 10th New Hampshire Turnpike.
